Well, it happened again! I woke up at 5:45 AM and couldn’t go back to sleep. I crawled out of the back of my truck and dawn was getting ready to break. Since it was Easter morning, I decided to have my sunrise service from the tailgate of my truck. I wrapped myself up in one of my comforters and waited for a Sun of God; the Universe of Love, to appear over the horizon. It rose at 6:28 AM. It was a gorgeous sunrise, and I was very grateful to be a part of it.
I crawled back into my truck and went back to sleep for a few more hours.
Once I got up for good, had breakfast, showered and did my morning meditation, I loaded up my truck and headed for Chattanooga, Tennessee. As I was driving north on Interstate 59, I passed the exit for the “Alabama Museum and Fan Club.” I thought about my deceased sister-in-law, who died December 20, 1990. She loved the lead singer of Alabama. I dedicated the song above to her memory.
I arrived in Chattanooga some two hours later.
I then made my way to one of the local campgrounds, picked out a primitive campsite and set up camp for a day or two. Once I settled in, I called a lot of my female relatives to wish them a happy Easter. While I was on the phone with them, a hornet flew into my truck, passing back and forth, in and out of the two front windows.

And then thankfully, after delivering its message, the hornet flew away for good.
After a quick workout in the campground’s tiny gym, I sat down at the picnic table at my campsite and began working on my journal. While I was working there, the sunset behind Raccoon Mountain, and a Cardinal sang to this top of its lung from high up in a tree directly behind me. I hadn’t seen a Redbird in a very long time.

That evening I drove into town to visit one of the local pubs. I sat down to have a drink and was amazed to discover that my bartender was legally blind. Not only that, but the guy sitting to my left was also legally blind. I sat and visited with both of them for at least an hour or two before heading back to my campsite.
While I was in the bar, the news about the earthquake in Baja California appeared on the muted television screen. I immediately got in my truck and emailed my friends in Palm Springs to make sure they were okay.
I returned to Raccoon Mountain, drove down to my campsite, parked my truck and once I turned off all my lights, found myself surrounded in complete darkness. Since the campground was not gated, I felt reasonably vulnerable but safe at the same time.
It was 12:34 AM. I drifted off to sleep with no problem.
